  6. On completion of 4 – carry on as you please!!!.

  7. Bar tab will close as necessary (see below).
The bar at the Surf Club will generally remain open until midnight but this depends on the shift Manager and the number of customers still enjoying the night. After this you will need to find your own entertainment or “watering hole” if you desire to party on. We think that you will be pleasantly surprised at the venue closing time that we shall be frequenting and not need to seek alternatives later in the night!!!

DRESS FOR THE SURF CLUB: Appropriate and very casual tropical night rig – shorts or trousers for the men and shorts or skirts/sarongs for the ladies. Why not wear your best and loudest Hawaiin or tropical shirt/skirt/sarong (whatever!!). Whatever you wear must be neat and tidy. Footwear - sandals permitted and/or other footwear and of course NO THONGS.

NOTE: BOTH THE SURF CLUB AND THE TWIN TOWN SERVICES CLUB OPERATE ON QUEENSLAND TIME AND NOT DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME.

THURSDAY 24 OCTOBER 2024 – TWIN TOWNS SERVICES CLUB – RIVER ROOM.

  1. 1700 – late registration for any “stragglers”. Sale of raffle tickets.

  2. 1800 – Pre dinner drinks at the Twin Towns Services Club River Room. Bar tab opens. (AGAIN –wear your ID tag and lanyard when attending the bar during bar tab hours.)

  4. 2030’ish – address and formal welcome by Bob Ward who will introduce our guest speaker, CMDR Neil Westphalen, who will present an insight into his research for a history PhD Thesis, and later to be turned into a book. The presentation title is “What we’ve all been doing the whole time: a history of the RAN Health Services 1900-1976”. Unfortunately, the history after 1976 won’t fit the thesis but will be included in the book.

  5. A raffle will be held during the course of the evening with intermittent draws.

  6. Bar tab will close as necessary (see below).

  7. The bar will close at 2300 and to be clear of the room by 2330. Other bars should be open in the Club for those wishing to imbibe further!!!

DRESS FOR THE SERVICES CLUB: Appropriate casual night-time tropical rig – for both women and men - trousers/slacks/skirts/dresses and again your best and loudest Hawaiin shirt/skirt (whatever!!) with appropriate footwear. Dress during the day at both the reunion venues is far less casual and thongs are permitted for those wishing to have lunch etc.

BAR TAB AND BAR SERVICES:

A bar tab will operate at both venues until the allocated funds for that particular function are depleted. After this it will be your responsibility to pay for any drinks.

The bars will generally remain open until midnight both nights but this depends on the shift Manager and the number of customers still enjoying the night. After this you will need to find your own entertainment or “watering hole” if you desire to party on. We think that you will be pleasantly surprised at the venue closing times that we shall be frequenting and not need to seek alternatives later in the night!!!

NOTE: YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO BRING YOUR OWN ALCOHOL INTO EITHER THE MEET AND GREET OR THE DINNER.

FINALLY:

The aim is for you all to enjoy your stay on the Gold Coast in a very relaxed and casual manner and to catch up with your old shipmates and their partners. There is plenty to see and do along the coastal strip during the day. Of course, it will be your responsibility to arrange any sightseeing trips that you might wish to do. All accommodation venues have copious amounts of literature to choose from on the various sights.

WE HOPE YOU ENJOY YOUR STAY
